Itinerary
FIRST DAY: KM 104 – CHACHABAMBA- WINAYHUAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN
The pick-up time from the hotel in Cusco will be at 04:30 hours then we will go by our bus to the Ollantaytambo town following the route of the sacred valley, on the way we will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Urubamba mountain range and its majestic mountains, to get to Ollantaytambo train station for about 2 hours and then we will board the train that will take us to kilometer 104 (1 hour and 20 minutes) where we will start the Short Inca Trail, After passing through the control point our guide will give us an introduction to the tour to start the adventure, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique views of the mountain ranges also floras and faunas of the rainforest; we will visit the archaeological complex of Chachabamba (2250 mts / 7381.89 ft) and archaeological complex of Winayhuayna (2600 mts / 8530.18 ft) our guide will explain the importance of these constructions. In Wiñayhuayna we will have lunch; then we will continue the smooth path for about 2 hours until Sun Gate (Inti Puncu), from there you will be able to appreciate the Inca city of Machu Picchu and take all those beautiful images and then descend approximately for 45 minutes until you reach the archaeological complex of Machu Picchu, there we can take photos from different angles and even the sunset, once we finish all those incredible photos we will take the bus to the Aguas Calientes city and then to the hotel.
SECOND DAY: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
We will wake up at 04:00 hours to take the first buses back to the Archaeological Complex of Machu Picchu; the control opens at 06:00 hours then we will have a guided tour of 3 hours through the site, during the tour we will learn about the Inca culture and visit all the important areas of the citadel. After your tour you will have free time to explore the site and if you have entrance to climb either Huayna Picchu mountain (2 hours round trip) or Machu Picchu mountain (3 hours round trip), then return to Aguas Calientes Town. In the afternoon, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo (2 hours), where you will continue back by our bus to Cusco (2 hours).
