Itinerary

FIRST DAY: CUSCO – TINKI – UPIS

The pick up time from the hotel in Cusco will be at 05:30 hours and then we will go by our bus in 3 hours approximately from Cusco city to the south valley outside the Cusco city, until we will arrive Tinki town (3900 mts) /12795.28 ft). Here we will have breakfast, where our handler will wait us with their horses, who will carry on the load to start the adventure. Our guide will give us an introduction of the path and then start the ascent offering an excellent view of the Ausangate peak. The landscape that surrounds it is typical of the Puna region with flora and fauna. We will arrive to  Upis prairie where we will advance towards the Apu Ausangate to establish the first camping that has a spectacular landscape.

 

SECOND DAY: UPIS – ARAPA PASS – AUSANGATECOCHA

Our team staff will wake us up with hot drinks, then we will have breakfast and we will receive previous instructions of our guide to continue the adventure under the watchful eye of the most important Ausangate mountain in the southern Andes. On the way, you could appreciate all the beauty of the geography of the Andean south. When we will arrive to Arapa pass (4670 mts / 15321.52 ft), we will have an exceptional view of this mountain range. Then we will go to the beautiful Andean lagoons of Sonccococha, Pukacocha and Ccomercocha. Where we will have lunch, then we will continue the ascent to cross the Ausangate pass (4850 mts / 15912.07 ft) and then descend to the Ausangatecocha lake  or Ausangate lagoon (4650 mts / 15255.91 ft), here we will camp overnight.

 

THIRD DAY: AUSANGATECOCHA – PALOMANI PASS – HATUNPAMPA

After a breakfast we will receive previous instructions of our guide to continue the path to the Palomani pass (5200 mts / 1706.37 ft), one of the highest points of the path, from this mountain there are wide views of the peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range; we will enjoy a unique landscape. We will continue the descent to the village of Huchuy Phinaya where we will have lunch. After a short rest, we will descend a gentle slope until we reach the camp in Hatunpampa. Here we will enjoy a high-Andean plain surrounded by snowy peaks. Here we will camp the night.

 

FOURTH DAY: HATUNPAMPA – JANCA PASS – PACCHANTA

Our team staff will wake us up with hot drinks, then we will have breakfast and we will receive previous instructions from our guide to continue the challenge of the adventure towards the Janca junction (5100 mts / 16732.28 ft), the second highest point of the road; beautiful Andean landscape, where the camelids coexist with the snow-capped mountains and lagoons of colorful colors guarded by the spectacular snow-capped Colqecruz (6111 mts / 20049.21 ft). We will continue the way until lunch, and then continue the trail to Pacchanta town and we will relax thermal baths (4200 mts / 13779.53 ft), here we will camp the night.

 

FIFTH DAY: PACCHANTA – T’INKI – CUSCO

After a breakfast we will receive the previous indications of our guide to continue the adventure  approximately 2 and a half hours to T`inki village, along the way we will have the opportunity to buy local textiles that are very cheap compared to Cusco. Here we will have lunch, then we will have a small ceremony to say goodbye to our team staff and after a short break we will pick up our bus to the city of Cusco.

GROUP TOUR:

$ 800 USD per person.

Group tour is done with different Trekkers. This means that it is open for others to join you.

 

PRIVATE TOUR:

They are available and have a price per group size.

  • 2 – 3 Trekkers: $ 850 USD per person.
  • 4 – 6 Trekkers: $ 830 USD per person.
  • 7 – 8 Trekkers: $ 800 USD per person.
